Cairns 30 Preview
In 2025, the Inspired Signs Cairns 30 fields are the biggest they have ever been. But not only have the 30k fields grown, but the quality is just as good as the past 3 years.
The women’s field includes a swathe of possible podium finishers, all of whom have a history of positive results over this distance or longer. Expect Fiona Bunt, Rebecca Elliott, Samantha Gallagher, Jodie Henley and Kelly Romano all to put in a good showing and be there and there abouts at the back end.
Then there is a tier of women who have recently showed great form over the 10k distance who will no doubt give this race a good shake. Claudia Cambon took out 3rd place at the most recent Clifton 10k, but only a matter of seconds in front of Hannah Mendes and Kylie Whitley. It will be a test of early season endurance for these three to see who comes out on top.
But the race favourite has to be Nadine Hunt. Currently in a build towards London Marathon, the 2024 second place finisher and ironman World Championships competitor will be the one to beat.
Similar to the women’s field, there is a large group of men who will likely challenge for the podium. In particular lookout for Stuart Tindall and Karl Latham who are coming off the back of solid recent results, both on the road and on the trails. Then Rinaldo Lookene and Jordan Wills are both sub 40 minute 10k runners who will be looking to hold on for the full 30k distance.
Bryan O’Mahony leads the chase pack off the back of a 3rd place in the 10k in 2024, and 2nd in the 50k in 2023. He is looking to make it a treble of podiums across all three distances and is looking the goods.
The favourite, however, is the speedy Jake Nolan. His most recent results include sub 17 minute ParkRuns and sub 38 minute 10k races as he builds towards Cairns Marathon. Jake will be hard to beat provided he has the legs for the distance.
